当你在阅读外语翻译书时，有没有想过你是在读作者的作品，还是译者的呢？其实我以前也没有想过这样无聊的问题啦。我也算读过不少外语翻译书吧... 其中包括Jostein Gaarder's Sophie's World, The Solitaire Mystery, Maya, etc (Norwegian > English), Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's Tatto-Chan (Japanese > English), Phillipe Derlerm's Fragiles/脆弱 (French > Chinese), 片山恭一的 《在世界の中心呼喊爱情》 （日文 > 中文），还有好几本中文版的日本电视小说，等等。一向来也没设么注意译者是谁。
不过，最近在阅读村上春樹的 《黑夜之後 After Dark》 （賴明珠译）时，却不时想到，这些文字是村上春樹的作品呢，还是賴明珠的？不知道为什么突然间会有这样的想法。也许是在不久前读过一篇关于賴明珠的文章吧，所以对她有了一些印象，以致她的名字不只是占了书本封面的三个字罢了。当然，书中内容肯定是村上的创作，无庸置疑，只是在想文字方面有多少是村上的原创风格，有多少是賴明珠的翻译风格。当然不是在怀疑賴明珠的翻译水准或专业，只是随便想想罢了，还真有点无聊 hor? 哈哈！不过，也正是如此，我现在也比较注意译者了。知道林少华也是另一日文书籍的著名中文译者，也许有一天会看一看由他翻译的作品吧。不过，我没有原油的不喜欢他，所以也许那一天还要等很久才会到吧... 哈哈！
P/S: 以繁体字打出书名和作者名字， 因为觉得繁体字比较美。=)

well, i feel that in a way, you'll be reading both the original author and the translator's work.
The author comes up with the plot, characters, etc. Translated work will be largely an 'interpretation' by the translator. A good translator should be able to convey the essence of the original work but may not necessarily capture certain qualities that are unique to the specific language...
